Our Fortnight in Frames

Smiles, snapshots, and standout moments — here’s what we’ve been up to at Mt A over the last two weeks!

Ponytail Project - Another Record-Breaking Year!

Team Mount Alvernia has once again shown incredible heart, raising over $21,000 for the Cancer Council through this year’s Ponytail Project. Currently sitting in 8th place on the national leaderboard, this is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the generosity of the family and friends who have rallied behind our students.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported this important cause.

Certificate III Fitness - Family & Friends Workout

This week, our Certificate III in Fitness students welcomed their friends and family to take part in a practical training session. With confidence and professionalism, students led their guests through a 30-minute workout, showcasing the skills they’ve developed throughout the course.

We extend our sincere thanks to all who took time out of their day to support and engage with our students’ learning journey.

Japan Study Tour - Welcome Nigawa Gakuin Students!

Over the past fortnight, we were delighted to welcome students from Nigawa Gakuin in Japan. Mount Alvernia College has a long-standing relationship with this school, and it was once again a joy to host their st

udents for a five-day immersion.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the families who generously opened their homes and hearts. With tearful goodbyes at the end of their stay, it was clear the experience was a meaningful and memorable one for all involved.

Academic Improvement & Achievement Assembly

This week, we came together for an Academic Excellence Assembly. Again, another semester of record-breaking numbers of students excelling in their learning and realising the power and magic of incremental gains, effort, and personal bests. Congratulations to every student who received an award on Thursday.

Year 12 Biology - Biotechnology in Action!

As part of their Biotechnology unit, our Year 12 Biology students have been stepping into the shoes of forensic scientists, using a real-world technique called Gel Electrophoresis to test DNA samples. 🧬The goal? To determine whether the original suspect in a case was wrongfully convicted by comparing how closely the DNA samples match.
