Welcome Back

I’d like to extend a warm welcome back to school for Term 3. I hope that you enjoyed some extra moments with your kids, and that they have had a chance to recharge for a new term.

They will need it because this term is an exciting one that is jam packed full of action! Here are just a few of the things that our students will get to experience this term:

  • House Athletics Day
  • Foundation students will celebrate their 100th day at school
  • Book Week
  • Middle Unit Excursion to Healesville Sanctuary
  • Grade 5 High School Taste Tester Day
  • Senior Camp to Sovereign Hill
  • Donuts for Dads and other special people
  • School Disco
  • Family Fun Afternoon

This isn’t even everything we have going on. We are looking forward to having a great term.

Uniform Supplier Change

A reminder that we have now officially changed over uniform suppliers. Spartan School World are stocked and ready to go for us.

You can find their online store HERE or you can visit their shop with uniforms on display at U12/100 New St, Ringwood VIC 3134.

Keep your eyes peeled for some new beanies dropping over the coming weeks.

Every Day Counts

Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.

Last term, students at our school missed on average 7.8 days of school. This equates to approximately a term over the 7 years of primary schooling.

We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. Of course, if your child is unwell, please do not send them. This usually causes further absence for other students, families and teachers.

If your child is well enough to attend but is feeling anxious about friendships, schoolwork, or another issue, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and may create a negative pattern of behaviour.

If your child is having difficulty attending, please speak with their teacher, Jenelle Seregin, or me about accessing support.

Every day counts!

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Over the past few months, our staff have been working closely with the SWPBS initiative to redefine our behaviour expectations across the school. This work has focused on refining the language we use and ensuring that our expectations—for both students and staff—are consistent and clearly communicated.

Our updated framework is centred around our core school values: Respect, Responsibility, and Inclusivity, with Safety now added as a key element. All expected behaviours will be aligned under these four categories.

This process has been highly collaborative. We’ve consulted widely with teaching staff, education support staff, school council, our student leadership group, and a broad cross-section of students. The insights from our students were particularly valuable in refining the language, ensuring it is easy to understand and that teachers are well-equipped to support students in learning and applying these expectations. As always, our students continue to impress us with their thoughtful contributions and perspectives.

We are now close to finalising the framework and look forward to sharing it with our wider community. Once complete, the framework will be embedded into every part of school life - including classrooms, excursions, camps, and assemblies. It will also be visually displayed across the school, including in all classrooms and common areas.

We’re also excited to share that a new acknowledgement system will be introduced alongside the framework to celebrate positive behaviour. More details about this will be shared over the coming term.

We’re proud of the work our community has contributed so far and look forward to launching the full framework over the second part of this year.

Individual Student NAPLAN Results

For our Year 3&5 families, your student’s NAPLAN results have been sent home with your child. Please read these and celebrate the effort of your child. If you have any questions and queries about the results, please touch base with your classroom teacher.

Warmly,

Tim Mulhall
