GS Warriors Grand Final Victory! (Basketball)

The GS Warriors faced Pedare Lightning in the Semester 1 season Grand Final.  As always against the Pedare Lightning, the game was tough and the opponent was very physical, this was reflected in the tight scoreline throughout the first half.  The Warriors intense pressure on the Lightnings offence forced a number of uncharacteristic mistakes from our opponents and towards the end of the first half we were able to capitalise on this and lead at the half 12-10.  

The second half commenced and continued to be a cagey affair for the first few minutes, until the Warriors took control and shot out to an 18-10 lead.  Our teamwork, which has been a shining light all season, on offence was again the major factor in keeping a strangle hold on the game and securing a 25-19 victory. Even a late surge from our opposition wasn’t enough to breakdown our resolute defending from the entire team. 

I am extremely proud of this group of players and the way they have all contributed to an outstanding first semester of basketball with only one defeat coming in the second game of the semester. The teamwork and our players ability to listen and carry out instructions has been excellent.  I can’t wait for the semester 2 season to begin.
