Junior School

Welcome back for Term 3

We have an action-packed term ahead with a number of different events running across the term.

Yesterday, our Year 7’s enjoyed a viewing of their English film, Scrapper, in the Nalleijerring Performance Space. This was a great opportunity to meet as a year level and enjoy the film.

Students involved in extracurricular activities have several events coming up. Volleyball has a three-day tournament in week 2 (Tuesday - Thursday) and music has a number of camps and rehearsals including the Training Band camp on Monday 4 - Tuesday 5 August in week 3. Whilst teachers are aware of these events, it’s a great idea to check in with your young person to ensure that they are confident with what is happening at school whilst they are participating in these events. It is fantastic to see so many of our Year 7’s engaging in extracurricular activities and representing Eltham High School.

This week has also been the launch of our Year 7 Extend and VHAP (Victorian High-Abilities Program) sessions. These programs are a wonderful way to extend selected students in new and challenging ways.

Vaccines (HPV and Pertussis) will be administered by Nurse Immunisers from Banyule City Council on Monday August 25 at school. Please find more information on this vaccine here: Secondary School Immunisation Program - Better Health Channel. Parents are required to access the below link to consent or deny the vaccination.  It is important that a response either way is received via this link, this ensures you have received the information regardless of your decision.

The Year 7 camp will take place in week 7 of term 3 at the Amberley Centre. Students will participate in a range of activities over a three-day and two-night camp experience. All Year 7 students will come together on Wednesday 3 September, whilst the other days will be with their Integrated Studies/Skills Lab groups.

  • Year 7ABCD: Monday 1 – Wednesday 3 September, 2025

  • Year 7EFGH: Wednesday 3 – Friday 5 September, 2025

A final payment of $305 will soon be issued to all families participating in this camp. This payment may be made via Compass or BPAY, or in person at the Eltham High School General Office. In order to access CSEF or SSB funds, please contact the General Office via phone or email (7805-AccountsRec@schools.vic.edu.au).

Please note that any medication taken by students on-site is to be facilitated by our first aid department. This is inclusive of prescribed medication as well as over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.

A kind reminder to please communicate any challenges with attendance to the school. This can be achieved by entering this information through Compass and adding a ‘parent note’ to communicate to teachers and staff why your child is absent. This information is vital to help us to meet your young person at their point of need and offer additional supports when required. Additionally, please communicate any planned absences to your child’s coordinator. Note that planned extended absences need to be communicated and confirmed by Vincent Sicari, but this can be achieved via communications with your child’s coordinator.

Lots going on as always in the Junior School and the team would like to thank you all for your support.

KATHRYN BOYSEN, Junior School Team Leader
