Principal's Column
A message from Mr. Gatt, Miss. Slaymaker & Mrs. Dixon
Dear Westgrovers.
Just like that we are commencing Week 4 of Term 3! The last three weeks have gone by so quickly as we have had Prep 100 Days of School, Parent/ Carer Teacher Interviews, Curriculum Day and operational changes to our Administration area, sick bay and school entrance due to some of our building works commencing.
Prep 100 Days of School
On the 27th July we celebrated our Prep students as they completed their first 100 Days of School. The theme of the day was 100 Days Brighter! The students and staff dressed up in bright clothing and completed a range of activities throughout the day centred around the number 100. Thank you for all the students and families for getting involved.
Attendance Focus
You may have noticed that this year we increased our communication with families regarding attendance, including celebrating positive attendance. As part of our work in this space, we are reviewing each child's attendance data twice per term (mid and end).
When we review this data we look at their attendance percentage for the year and compare their attendance from their previous attendance snapshot. From this, we have sent an email to families to outline where their child's attendance sits for the year and if we have noted any change from the last attendance email. We understand that some (or all) of these absences may be explained, however we believe it is important that families are aware of the total number of absent days.
We will be sending out communication to families at the end of next week after our mid-Term 3 attendance review.
Book Week is coming!
Next week we are celebrating Book Week with a range of activities, which include: Author Visits, Book Fair and Book Week Parade (Thursday 21st August). Information has been posted on Class Dojo regarding this. We look forward to welcoming our community to our Book Parade and seeing the children in their costumes!
New Parking Signage on Thames Boulevard
There has been a change to parking out the front of our school, between our Red Gate and the main staff carpark (near the swimming pool). This area is now a 2-minute zone, to support the movement of traffic down Thames Blvd. The intention of this area is to resemble a drop off and pick up zone, where cars park safely kerbside, children get out of/ into the car safely, then the cars join the flow of traffic smoothly. This is not a parking area between these times.
Parent/ Carer Teacher Interviews
Thank you for all our families who engaged in our Parent/ Carer Teacher Interviews earlier this term and Student Support Group meetings at the end of last term. We hope that you found this time beneficial to discuss your child/ren's progress and the continued support offered. We had a fantastic turn out on the evening and encourage families to maintain contact with their children/s teacher via Compass and Class Dojo.
Prep 2026 Enrolments Open
If you or somebody you know has a child turning 5 before 30th April 2026 they are eligible to attend school in 2026. If you feel they are ready to start school next year and would like to find out more about what we have to offer, please contact the office or fill in this Enrolment Enquiry Form: https://forms.gle/2knEcBjJTPRm57kQ6
Principal's Day - Thank you!
