Art, Music, PE & STEM

STEM
All students this week had a rotations week in STEM.
Activity 1 involved Preps, 3/4s and 5/6s explored chromatography with different coloured textas. Grade 1/2s used magnifying glasses for their first activity to explore different materials.
Activity 2 involved all grades using paper plates, paper cups and if they wished, some icy pole sticks to work with a partner to create a plate stack tower. Amazing designs by all students!
Planning is currently underway for our annual ‘Family STEM Night’. This is going to be held during National Science Week on Thursday 14th August between 6pm and 7pm. We look forward to seeing our families engage in a variety of STEM-related activities on the night.

In The Artroom
This week in the Artroom students commenced the textile unit with students learning to finger knit (both with one finger and multiple fingers), weaving a woollen mandala on sticks, weaving with paper, wool, pipe cleaners and feathers, using a loom and many other different textile activities. Photos of artwork will be placed on our school’s facebook page.
Ms Brown will be holding special textile workshops in the Artroom on a Wednesday lunchtime. Students will need to sign up for these workshops on the printed lists which will be posted on the OLA glass doors. Later this term there will be a knitting club commencing with special helpers which is very exciting!
