Term 3- Week 3
It is only fitting that I begin this week's newsletter with a reminder to all families to continue to practice with their children the essentials that help keeps us a little safer from germs during this continuing cold weather. Washing hands, sanitising, keeping warm at school and staying home if unwell are a few steps that help. Currently I am writing this newsletter from home as I recover from Influenza A despite having had the flu shot! I can confirm that it is a nasty bug that I wouldn't wish on anyone. There are quite a few students absent this week across classrooms so let's hope that the warmer weather arrives soon and we can kiss this winter a fond good bye.
It was with great pleasure at our school council meeting this week that we shared some amazing results for the students at our school in Years 3 and 5. Across the board in all but one area, the students achieved a notable amount of growth and are sitting above our similar and network schools.
When Naplan results are released, students are ranked in proficiencies- Exceeding, Strong, Developing and Needs Additional Support. The snapshot of some results I am sharing with you today are percentages of students in the top proficiencies- Exceeding and Strong and are painting a clear picture that the work that is happening in our school is targeted, takes into account how our students learn best and is based on latest research with the release of the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model.
