Sharing Our Resilience Project Highlights

Over the past two years, our students have been engaging in the Resilience Project, exploring important themes like gratitude, empathy, mindfulness, and emotional literacy.

This week, students in Year 5CB will  share their favourite lessons and personal highlights from the program. It’s been wonderful to see how these sessions have helped build emotional awareness and positive habits in our classrooms.

The Resilience Project has taught me a lot of things, but my favourite lesson was Lesson 9- “I Notice,I Feel, I Can.” This is because I could think about emotions more deeply. In this activity, we got to choose colours, shapes, drawings and facial expressions  for each emotion. The emotions were joy, excitement, pride, anger, fear and sadness. I feel so lucky our school gets to do this program.

The Resilience Project is great for helping us learn about our emotions, feelings and gratitude. It is very interesting because of the weekly Mood Tracker. My favourite part was the mindful colouring because it makes me calm and relaxed. It is also very good for my wellbeing. I also like lesson 10- the catastrophe scale because it helped me to think of strong emotions and what to do when I feel these.

I like how there are lots of different activities in the Resilience Project. My favourite part is lesson 3 about “Empathy” because we got to draw lots of pictures displaying empathy. It’s a really fun program and I’m lucky to be part of it. It has helped me to understand more about empathy and emotions and helps us understand things that are part of our life.

What I like is that it’s a book where you can express all about yourself; your emotions, thoughts and favourite things. My favourite lesson is Lesson 12 “Noticing Glimmers”. The lesson teaches you about being grateful for small little things that are around you that you may not notice. It helps us to be better role models and I like doing our Journals. It makes me feel like I have someone to talk to.

The Resilience Project has taught me to be positive and to never take things for granted. It’s an amazing program that our school has. My favourite activity  is lesson 9, “I notice, I feel, I can”. You had to draw faces to show particular emotions and write down a time you felt that emotion. Every page shows positivity which is lovely because that’s what we want for our school.

In the Resilience Project this year we learnt about many things, but my favourite was Lesson 9. We wrote down an emotion, the colour this emotion could represent, a shape and a drawing. It was super fun to do. It is an exciting way to end every Friday learning about our emotions and doing meditation.
