PREPs - 100 Days of School
Our last 2 weeks have been business as usual, except...
We've been counting down...
We've been making100 acts of kindness
To mark our 100 days at school we started to think about ways we could say thank you. We came up with idea of 100 acts of kindness. Here are the ways we did this:
Cards for our buddies:
Thanking the teachers and staff at school:
Our buddies from grade 5 came to visit and helped us make cards to give to the adults at school who help us every day
And of course, a big thanks to our families!
A special visit:
We made suncatchers for older people who live in age care
We visited Gwen, who is 100 years old, to ask her about her life and why being kind is important. The Age came along and wrote an article about our visit - we made the front page!!!
And we celebrated every act of kindness:
And on our 101st day we had a big party!
GRADE 1 / 2
Well done to Maya B, who has passed a Judo practical and knowledge test called a grading at the Judokan Judo Club. This is no easy task and requires a great deal of practice. The grade is awarded by the presentation of a coloured Judo belt. Go Maya!
This term, on Thursday, our Grade 1/2 students will be engaging in a STEM program focused on physics and aerodynamics. They will be designing and making a rover for Mars. We are super excited!
You might have missed it, but don't worry we got it on camera - Tina Turner Tuesdays - because Grade 2 are 'Simply the best' - everyone was dancing up a storm in Grade 2 this week. We are so grateful for the passion and fun our teachers bring to learning each day - this is something that is particularly special about BBPS.
Below: Grade 1 collected data about what pets we have at home. We shared this data and talked about how we could show the results.
Below: We are taking a deep dive into the books of Oliver Jeffers, and are learning to understand his writing and apply our understanding by drawing connections. We used adjectives to describe the hands in his book 'What We'll Build', and used our prior knowledge to infer meaning.

GRADE 3 / 4 -
Harper, Aleksei, gr 3: We enjoyed our first session of Japanese today - we had to remember the greetings and see how many we could remember from our learning last year. We did alright! It was fun to learn Japanes again. We are looking forward to learning harder words and writing in Japanese - Hiragana.
Hawk, Georgie, gr 3: We have been working hard to think about how we move around our learning space Quickly, Quietly, Carefully and Calmly (QQCC). In the Hub we use 'Tokyo' - Just like at Tokyo Station in Japan we think about our timing, the noise level and how we respect personal space as we move from our desks, to the floor, to the hub meeting spot, and to other classes. Mrs Ancrum came in as we were doing it and she said that we did such a great job, she is going to share it with other principals!
Our lucky Grade 4s were suprised this week with a special incursion - A FUNShop with School of Play. Students engaged in a range of activities designed to build regulation, collaboration and celebration of each other and our differences. The School of Play team will be running a parent session later this term, stay tuned!
GRADE 5 / 6 - What are we learning this term?
Aubrey and Anastasia, Academic Captains - We've been collecting data across the school to graph - like number of lights on / off; doors left open / closed. We've collected, compared and then created a range of graphs - deciding on the right type of graph based on the data collected.
We've started learning about space - how planets orbit and the Earth's rotation - we are reading and watching lots of interesting texts to build our knowledge in this area. We'll be doing research and exploring topics of interest later in the term.
Chelsea came in today to start the Year 6s on their journey towards their Graduation Ceremony, which will take place at the end of the year.
