Message from Bev and Kim

Olivia and Macy

Welcome back everyone, it has already been a jam packed first two weeks at BBPS. We hope families enjoyed a restful break and are ready for another term of exciting learning and community events. A special welcome to the new families who have joined our school.

Grade 3 and 5 have received their NAPLAN results, congratulations to all our students for trying their absolute best during the test period in March. This test is on one day, at one time and provides a snapshot into student achievement. Our teachers used a myriad of assessments to triangulate data and determine student proficiency against the Victorian Curriculum throughout the year. If you haven’t opened up your child’s semester one report, it is still available via Compass. We encourage you to download and save these reports for your own records.

A big thank you to our Parent Association, in particular the 3/4 team, for organizing what sounded like a wonderful child-free Parent Event. Thanks so much to all our generous families who attended and/or donated to this wonderful event. We had some very, very generous bidders to the silent auction, thank you. Please see our list of thanks in our PA section of the newsletter.

Dreamers hoodies look great on our kids! Many thanks to the team who organised these for another year.

Students are still required to wear the official school uniform when representing BBPS at an out of school event, e.g. sport carnivals or excursions, ie students are to wear green jackets or jumpers in keeping with our Student Dress Code Policy. This ensures the safety and easy identification of students offsite.

Our Prep students celebrated a very special milestone this week – their first 100 days of school! This is such an exciting achievement, marking how much they have grown and learnt in their time at school. This year, the celebration was taken to the next level with our Preppies committing to completing 100 Acts of Kindness. It even featured on the front page of THE AGE. Congratulations, Preps – we are so proud of you! Check out BBPS Life for more on the event.

Following on from the foundations our Prep’s have forged, momentum is building and BBPS will be engaging in a week-long challenge to complete 100 Acts of Kindness across the school in week 4 – more information to come next week. We have been overwhelmed by the interest and support of our wider community.

This week we were delighted to welcome visitors from St Peter’s Kindergarten to our school. It’s always a wonderful opportunity for preschool children to experience the excitement of a primary school environment and for our students to act as positive role models, well done to our Grade 5 buddy helpers for supporting their visit to the Library and Exon Playground. This week, offers of enrolment have been sent to our incoming 2026 Prep cohort. If you are yet to enrol your child, please notify the Administration Office.

Congratulations to Vivi, who represented our school and region at the State Cross Country, with an outstanding result of 2nd.

A huge well done also to our Grade 5/6 Girls’ Football Team for their excellent performance at the recent interschool competition with an overall placing of 3rd, and further participation at the District tournament this week.

We are excited to welcome Melanie Stephens to our school community as she joins our Specialist team as Japanese teacher this semester. We look forward to seeing the wonderful learning experiences she will provide for our students on a Wednesday and Thursday each week.

Congratulations to Kirsten Braun (Grade 5), who is expecting her second child over the Christmas break. We are thrilled for you!

We look forward to a fantastic term of learning together. Make sure you go to the Important Dates tab of the newsletter for early notice of our upcoming events.
