The Rite Journey Homecoming Ceremony

It was a joy to celebrate the end of our Year 9 rite of passage program, The Rite Journey, together with parents and mentors at this year's Homecoming evening.

We teachers were delighted, awe-struck, and freshly surprised at the everyday miracle unfolding again before our eyes: children outgrowing childhood and rising to the call of becoming men and women, with all the challenges that entail. Many of us were struck by the noticeable leap forward in maturity represented by not only their clothes (though they did look sharp, it has to be said), but even more by the speeches each of them made in the presence of their parents and mentors.

Hearing the openness, faith, confidence, and deep reflection in their words and their manner of carrying themselves filled us with hope for the blessing they will be wherever God may send them in the days and years to come.

We thank God that we can play some small part in being the 'village' that it takes to raise a child and commend these fantastic Year 9s to your ongoing prayers!

Year 11 Awards Assembly

Last Tuesday, our Year 11 students capped off their final day of school with a lunch and final Awards Assembly held at the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club. It was a unique and fun way of celebrating the year, along with their teachers and Executive Principal, Andrew Linke.

Students were recognised for their achievements across subjects, as well as for their contributions to the community service, sport, and the performing arts, with some receiving awards in multiple areas.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11s for their dedication and the positive impact they’ve made on our college community this year.

ECCO students serving at Puddle Jumpers

Gallery Image

On Friday of Week 5, our year 7-12 ECCO students spent two hours volunteering at the Puddle Jumpers main depot, supporting the charity’s work with vulnerable children and families.

Students contributed to a wide range of practical tasks, including sorting food donations, organising the freezer, cleaning trucks, sorting bread for animal feed, weeding, breaking down cardboard, and helping with toiletry packs. Emmaus students worked diligently, remained focused on their service jobs, and represented our school with genuine service and generosity.

“Serve one another humbly in love.”  Galatians 5:13

The Puddle Jumper Team were thrilled by the support our wonderful team gave.

Year 7 Ancient China Museum

On Friday of Week 5, the Year 7 History classes hosted over 150 staff and students at the Ancient China Museum Exhibition. The Year 7s  worked hard to create an immersive experience that would transport guests back in time to Ancient China.

A team of Year 7 tour guides shared their knowledge and expertise as guests viewed a diverse range of historical artefacts, including weapons, masks, lanterns, pottery, artworks, food, clothing, dioramas, models, and much more. The guests also participated in an Ancient China-themed "Bingo" as they explored the museum's sections and answered questions about various artifacts.

It was a truly spectacular effort by the Year 7s, who are to be commended for their dedication and creativity in bringing the museum to life.

Year 11 History Excursion

On Thursday of Week 5, the Year 11 History students attended an extra-curricular excursion to deepen their understanding of the Mughals, East India Company and the Partition of India.

The excursion began with dinner in Chinatown before heading to the Adelaide Town Hall to hear from William Dalrymple, acclaimed Historian, co-host of 'Empire' podcast, and author of The Golden Road and The Company Quartet.  Over the course of the evening, the students deepened their understanding of how Indian philosophy, art, language, and science shaped the modern world, as well as the impact of decolonisation on India.

It was a wonderful experience for students to learn from one of Britain's greatest living historians, amidst the awe-inspiring setting of the town hall.
