End of 2025 News
It is quite unbelievable that we find ourselves at the end of another school year. It has been a very successful year, and the students and staff are all finishing strongly. We still have most of our final events to come next week.
On Tuesday, 2nd December, South Plympton Campus will hold its Year 6 Graduation at the Edwardstown Baptist Church.
Friday, 5th December, will be our Awards Ceremony in EPAC starting at 8:50am. Parents of students receiving these significant awards will be notified so they can attend. Unfortunately, due to limited seating, we are only able to accommodate these additional parents. If you are notified, please don’t tell your child that you are coming as the awards are a surprise on the day.
Class placement transition
Next week, our students will spend a couple of lessons on Wednesday with their 2026 classmates and their new teacher. You will also receive separate correspondence confirming these details.
It’s normal for some children to feel unsettled during this transition. There may be tears, or they might say they have no friends. Please be assured, this is not the case. Every child nominates three friends, and we guarantee they will have at least one of these friends in their new class.
We encourage you to use this as an opportunity to build resilience and remind your child that this is an excellent time to make new friends. You might share that, just as adults experience change when starting a new job or receiving a promotion, friendships can grow and adapt in new environments.
We have very few changes in our teachers in 2026, but for your guidance:
- Foundation - Miss Hermann and Mrs Were
- Year 1 - Mrs Smith
- Year 1/2 - Mrs Pitcher
- Year 2 - Mrs Houston
- Year 3/4 - Mrs Kelly, Miss Iengo and Mrs Van der Merwe
- Year 5/6 - Mrs Butler, Mr Dal Santo and Mrs Wicks
- PE Teacher - Mrs Collins
- French Teacher - Mrs Winter
- Music Teachers - Mrs Ali and Mrs Meinel.
- Mr Cope, Mrs Bailey, Mrs Dragun (for some of Term 1) and I will continue to teach various subjects in our Junior School classrooms.
Christmas Picnic and Carols
The Family Picnic was a delightful celebration of community. Families spread out on colourful blankets, enjoying the sunshine and lively conversations. The highlight of the evening came when the children gathered to perform a selection of Christmas songs. Thank you to Mr Ai and Mrs Maddern for preparing these items. Their cheerful voices brought smiles to every face and a sense of festive anticipation. The evening was a beautiful reminder of the simple joys that bind families and friends together.
Year 6 End of Year Dinner
The Year 6 students gathered at The Highway for their End-of-Year Dinner, enjoying a wonderful evening of laughter, delicious food, and creative awards that celebrated their unique personalities and contributions throughout the year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Maricel for her tireless efforts in organising such a memorable occasion. At the same time, Year 6 parents shared in their own event, fostering fellowship and reflecting on this significant milestone. It was a fitting conclusion to the students' primary school journey and a joyful opportunity to look ahead to their transition into Secondary School.
Blessings to you all
The staff of South Plympton Junior School would like to thank you all for partnering with us this year, and we pray that the festive season will be a time when you can reflect on the incredible story that Christmas heralds for us and enjoy time with family and friends.

Year 5/6's producing lemon-based products 🍋
Year 5/6 students designed fantastic lemon products as part of their Design Technologies curriculum. The project aimed to explore entrepreneurialism and how products meet a need or want in the market. Students worked in groups, each producing a small sample of their products to present as a tangible exhibit at the exhibition.
Students were very excited to present the products they produced themselves, which were incredibly impressive. They included various types of lemon-based products, such as soap, candles, perfumes, body butter, and many more.
From ideas to sentences: Year 3/4 Writing Progress
Writing is hard! Students have to manage so many things at once: thinking about the topic, organising paragraphs, spelling words correctly, using the correct text structure, choosing language devices, showing author voice and point of view, and remembering punctuation. To support them, we employ a range of sentence-level activities that help them break down complex ideas into clear sentences and paragraphs. It also makes a huge difference when students write about topics they know well and are excited about.
This term, our students have written fantastic recounts about their Mylor Camp experience, using detail and a strong personal voice. Building on last term’s learning about the First Fleet, they are now crafting persuasive texts about whether the First Fleet was a good idea. Term 4 is always a special time, as we get to see all the growth students have made throughout the year come together in their detailed, thoughtful, and well-written texts. We are incredibly proud of their progress!

OSHC Highlights
In OSHC, we had our very own comic creation competition! Our winner was chosen very carefully by measuring each comic's creativity, lucidity and originality.
The chosen winner was humorous, involving multiple wordplays and presented it in a way that was easy to understand. Everyone did a fantastic job, but this one stands out above all the rest. Congratulations, Joanne and Gabi!
