Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

Happy week 8, everyone. December is officially here, and I know everyone, students, parents, and staff alike, are counting down the days. There is nothing quite like the countdown to the Christmas holidays. When you are a parent, although it’s a very busy time of the year, the thought of not having to make sure uniforms are washed, lunches are packed, homework is done, and bedtimes are adhered to is just amazing!

Thank you P&C!

As I sit down to write to you today, I want to first acknowledge the significant work of the P&C over the last 12 months. Last Monday, the P&C held their AGM, where a new executive was elected, marking the end of an era, with Martin and his team opting to take a break and not run again. Volunteering for an executive position on the P&C is a massive commitment and role to fulfil, and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work, dedication and commitment to Roselea. I would like to personally thank Martin Collings who has filled the President role for 4 years. In that time, significant funds were granted to provide additional resources to our students, most notably The Nature Nook which will provide enjoyment for many future generations. I would also like to thank Sara Ghirawoo, Harshal Desai, Emma Garton, David Prince, Sally Han, Joel Keyes and Fallon Lloyd-Thomas for the enormous time they have dedicated to Roselea not only this year but in all the years they have served in executive positions on the P&C. This year I have watched you organise countless events, supported the STEM lab creation and library upgrade, given your time, your enthusiasm and displayed a real sense of community. While you step down for a well-earned break, please know that the staff, students and I appreciate all you have done and the time you have given.

I would like to officially welcome in the new P&C team for 2026:

  • President – Renuka Awadalla
  • Vice President – Melissa Petersen
  • Treasurer – TBA
  • Secretary – Mila Mamae

At the next meeting to be held early in 2026 the P&C will aim to fill the remaining executive positions.

I look forward to working with the new team and hearing about the plans for 2026!

Presentation Day

Presentation Day is next week Wednesday 10 December in the Carlingford HS hall. Our 3-6 assembly will commence at 9.15am and the K-2 at 11.30am. During these

assemblies, our bands will perform as well as our dance groups. We hope you can join us for a day of celebration!

Mobile Phone and Digital Devices Policy

Earlier in the year we sought feedback on how as a school we would manage mobile phones and smart watches. After receiving your feedback, we will be implementing the following in 2026.

  • Any parent who wishes their child to bring a mobile phone or wear a smart watch will be required to complete a permission note whereby the parent agrees that their child agrees to follow the school mobile phone and digital devices policy, which outlines how devices are used and stored throughout the day.
  • Mobile phones will be handed to the classroom teacher and placed in a locked box for the duration of the day
  • Smart watches can be worn but must be in ‘school mode’ with no texting, calling or camera features used throughout the day.

This policy will also include sections on responsible use of technology and on how, as a community, we will manage the use of school-based technology, including laptops, iPads, and school-based platforms and applications.

Holding Classes for 2026

As with this year, our student enrolment numbers for 2026 are unstable. As a result, we will be going into holding classes as students return at the start of the year. This will mean your child will start the year in their 2025 class and possibly their 2025 teacher. Please be reassured that 2026 learning will commence from day one. We will remain in holding classes for as short a time as possible.

Changes to the school carpark

At the end of term 3 we sought feedback on our school carpark following a visit from the Department of Education Work Health and Safety team. Your feedback was vital in ensuring we balance student safety with community needs. From the start of 2026, the car park that runs parallel to North Rocks Road will be for staff access only. The community will have access to the end carpark that is situated between the end of the administration building and the High School. Currently, this is used for OOSH and our Support Unit and is signed as one-way traffic. Over the Christmas break, new signs and traffic mirrors will be installed to ensure this space can be used in two directions. When we return in 2026, a map highlighting traffic conditions will be emailed out to all families. This area will be available during the following times for the following community members

  • 6am-8am – OOSH Families
  • 8am-9am – Support unit families and transport
  • 2.30pm-3.30pm – Support unit families and transport
  • 3.30pm till close – all community members

I thank you for your support in keeping our students safe as they enter and exit our school grounds in the morning and afternoon.
