Wellbeing Reflection

As we approach the final, exciting weeks of Term 4, it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect and finish the school with a focus on our wellbeing

The last week of term can often feel busy with activities, end of year celebrations, parties and events so I encourage all families to help their children maintain a sense of calm and routine.

From a wellbeing perspective, this means making adequate sleep and rest a priority as the extra excitement can leave children feeling exhausted. We can practice gratitude for all the wonderful learning and friendships we've experienced this year. Encourage your child to mindfully pack their belongings, say thoughtful goodbyes, and focus on finishing their school commitments with a feeling of accomplishment rather than rush. By engaging fully and peacefully in this final week, we set ourselves up for a truly restful and joyful break, ready to celebrate Christmas.

Preparing for a Restful Holiday

Transitioning from the structure of school life to the freedom of the holidays can sometimes be unsettling for children. To prepare for a truly restorative break, try setting aside time as a family to disconnect to reconnect. This means intentionally limiting screen time and encouraging activities such as unstructured play, spending time in nature, or helping others. Consider involving your child in a simple service activity, reflecting the values of compassion and community. Creating a 'Holiday Hopes' list can help children feel in control and excited about the coming weeks.

Remember that rest is essential for wellbeing; it is in these quiet, unscheduled moments that children (and adults!) recharge their spirits.

I wish all our families a holy and peaceful Christmas holiday filled with rest, joy, and the blessings of the season.
