Congratulations to Arlo C (5ND) on his fantastic results at the School Sport Australia Track & Field Championships in Canberra!

Arlo represented Team Vic with pride, delivering two impressive performances on the national stage. He claimed a Bronze Medal as part of the Combined 4 × 100m Relay, and also achieved an impressive 7th place in High Jump, placing him among the top handful of athletes in the country for the event.

This is an outstanding achievement, and we’re incredibly proud of Arlo for his hard work, determination, and commitment to his athletics.

Well done, Arlo! 💪🏼

If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.

                        Banyule Children’s Gift Appeal

Annually for over 24 years Banyule residents and community services have gifted quality toys and vouchers to local children and families experiencing financial hardship through the Banyule Children's Gift Appeal.

                                               Impact

In 2024, more than 500 local children received gifts, all thanks to community donations.

Disadvantage and financial hardship affect families in our community. Being a single parent family, having a disability or having a significant change in circumstance presents unique challenges.

Caden and Pax H (and parents) volunteered on Friday last week for the Banyule children’s gift appeal. They packed Xmas gift parcels for families in need.

Well done boys!

The Big Summer Read is taking place at Yarra Plenty Regional Library branches these summer holidays!

The Big Summer Read is a fun, state-wide, library program that aims to keep children reading over the school break. It has been developed to raise awareness and ensure all children have access to resources they need to maintain literacy skills over the summer school holidays. How? By visiting their local library and borrowing books to take home!

Our campaign is all about the joy of reading for pleasure and encouraging children to feel empowered through their reading choices.

How do children participate?

1. Be (or become!) a Yarra Plenty Regional Library member. Sign up online or in-branch.

2. Join the Big Summer Read challenge by registering online or filling out the paper log (collected at any YPRL location).

3. Log 5 books read or track reading for 5 days for the chance to win!

Sign up, borrow 5 books, and children can also receive a special activity booklet filled with fun things to do created by well-known authors and illustrators (think Real Pigeons, Dog Man!).

How can your school help?

Schools can help us to engage more children in the campaign by spreading the word and encouraging your communities to participate. To help, we can provide posters, colouring sheets, and compass/newsletter text (attached).

This year, YPRL prizes include: One Piece The Going Merry Pirate Ship Lego Set, Pokémon Charizard Nanoblock Kit, 100pc Crayola Coloured Pencil Pack + a selection of fantastic activity books including The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book and Wings of Fire: How to Draw. Find out more information via our website: Big Summer Read
