Getting to Know Your Child Chats (Monday 9th - Friday 14th Feb)
Thank you to all families who have already made a booking on Compass for next week's meetings. If you have not already done this, please book a 15 minute slot on the Compass app or email your child's teacher to set up a meeting. We look forward to developing a strong home and school partnership in order to support our wonderful students.
Dates to Remember:
Friday 27th March: Flying Bookworm In-Visit
Reminders:
Label personal items:
It is important that all personal items, including uniform, are labelled with your child's name. If items are lost and have no name, it becomes extremely difficult to return it to the correct owner.
Library bags:
If you have not purchased a library bag yet, please do so soon. Preps will begin library sessions in Week 6 and will not be able to bring books home from school if they do not have one.
Uniform:
We have noticed some students do not have an SMPS school bag. It is an expectation for all students to use an SMPS school bag instead of personal ones. Please purchase one as soon as possible if you haven't done so already. See second hand uniform shop information on the 'SMPS Community Page' of this iNewsletter.

Thank you for supporting your child with their homework routine. We look forward to celebrating our Mathseeds Superstars every week.
iPads:
A reminder that iPads must be brought to school fully charged each day.
iPad Use:
As the curriculum begins in Week 3, please support your child's understanding of which iPad apps can and cannot be used at home, as this has changed from those utilised in Prep. We appreciate your support in helping students to be set up for success in Year 1 (see graphic below).

Friday 20th March: Year 5/6 Tee-Ball Gala Day at Fawkner Park, South Yarra
Reminders:
Homework and Laptop Use:
Students are required to read for 30 minutes each night and complete at least 200 points on Mathletics each week. Please support your child by allocating time on a Monday night to complete Mathletics and each night of the week for reading. Having good homework habits will support students in secondary school as homework expetcations increase.
School laptops are to be used only for learning. Students will only use devices when supervised directly by a teacher at school. At home, we urge parents to supervise all device use and ensure that students only use their school laptop for learning purposes. This includes using programs like Myon for reading online and Mathletics to complete weekly homework.
Library:
Year 6 students will visit the library each Thursday. Please support your child to bring their blue library bag (or other suitable library bag) each week, as students without a bag will be unable to borrow books.
