Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader

  • The Victorian Government has invested over $6 million in school mental health and wellbeing Capacity since 2018. 
  • The Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative (MHiPS) began in 2020 and has been expanded, due to it's success, to all Victorian Government Schools. SMPS are now part of that expansion. 
  • Miss Jenny is our designated Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL). Miss Jenny will work closely with Miss Ciona (Disability and Inclusion Leader) and the Leadership Team, to further improve our whole-school approach to learning and wellbeing. Miss Jenny will be supported by training and communities of practice.

• Builds staff capacity through development and delivery of professional learning and support     • Not a clinical role or allied health professional role
• Plans and implements a whole school approach• Not focused on staff mental health support
• Supports the creation of clear care pathways• Not involved in the mental health assessment of individual students
• Supports teachers to implement evidence-based strategies and wellbeing supports 
• Embeds mental health literacy across the school 
• A dedicated role with quarantined time
