We wrapped up the Year 9 Beyond program with a joyful and vibrant Bush Dance Celebration at the Don Railway Function Centre, bringing together students, staff, and families for an evening filled with energy, laughter, and connection. Parents joined us for awards and speeches before staff and students stayed on for a bush dance and pizza. Many students surprised themselves with just how much fun they had—an uplifting and memorable way to celebrate their year of growth.

Later this week, we look forward to welcoming families to our Year 7/8 Breakfast Celebration, a morning where students share the work they are most proud of from throughout the year. Students will also be awarded Bands of Achievement, which recognise excellence, growth, leadership, character, and significant contributions to school life. These bands represent far more than a certificate, they highlight effort, resilience, and the positive impact students have on our community.
Next week, we conclude the school year with our much-anticipated Surf Carnival at the Bluff. Music, food, beach games, and friendly house competition all come together to create a fantastic day, weather permitting! This event brings the whole secondary cohort together for a final celebration of community and fun.
We are incredibly excited for next year as Secondary completes its full journey as a Year 7–10 program. While the first six months may feel a little cosy as we temporarily share and shuffle spaces, we will also be expanding into the STEM building, providing plenty of room for all classes.
By Term 3, we anticipate moving into our brand-new secondary facilities — an exciting milestone for our school. This new space will include:
a large commercial-style kitchen
a dedicated art room
the JILOA Lounge
and versatile learning areas designed for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
We are incredibly excited for the opportunities these spaces will bring to our curriculum, wellbeing programs, and student experience.
As we finish the year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our Secondary staff for their dedication, creativity, and resilience. It has been a big year of growth, change, and opportunity, and our team has led with professionalism and genuine care every step of the way.
A sincere thank you also to our parents and caregivers for your ongoing support and partnership throughout the year. We deeply value the trust you place in us and the way you continue to champion your children and our school community.
We wish every family a restful, joy-filled Christmas break and look forward to an exciting 2026 together.
