Our Lord is Limitless

This year, as we look back across our year, one truth rises above them all. Jesus has been with us. In every ordinary moment and every stretching one, He has been our firm foundation and woven through it all has been our theme: Our Lord is Limitless. Again and again, we have seen that His power, His presence and His love far exceed anything we could ask, imagine or plan on our own.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.”  - Ephesians 3:20-21

We have been reminded many times that God is not distant. As I shared last week, Emmanuel, God with us, He has walked our grounds, sat with us in classrooms, stood with us in worshipping in Jiloa Centre, and been present in conversations, celebrations and challenges.

Together, we have learnt to run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus. We have talked about small daily choices, the quiet decisions no one sees, the words we speak, the way we forgive, the habits we form. These little seeds of faith, kindness and obedience have grown into big things in the lives of our students, staff and families.

We have celebrated that learning is worship, when we offer it to Jesus. Every lesson taught, every assessment completed, every musical performance, every act of service in the playground or the classroom, becomes an act of praise when it is done in His name.

And as we have grown, we have seen God do 'immeasurably more' in our community. More unity, more courage, more generosity, more love. Truly, our Lord is limitless.

Looking ahead, our new vision statement simply puts into words what God is stirring in our hearts. We long to be a leading Christian learning community that loves, serves and pursues excellence for the glory of God.

To love means we will keep opening our hearts and our doors, noticing the one on the edge, encouraging the weary, and speaking golden words of life and truth.

To serve means we will look up to Jesus and reach out to others, raising young people who bless the world in Jesus' name, from Kinder through to Year 10 and beyond.

To pursue excellence means we will give our very best in learning, character, leadership and hospitality. Not perfection, but wholeheartedness. 'And whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.' - Colossians 3:17.

Thank you for being part of this special year at Devonport Christian School. May our hearts stay anchored in hope as we continue to love, serve and pursue excellence together, celebrating that 'Our Lord is truly limitless.'

See you in 2026,
