Grade 2/3/4

We are currently in Week 5 and the 2/3/4's have been busy in the classroom! It is also Book Week this week with the parade on Friday- Pictures to be in the next edition. Book Week is so important as it encourages more students to read books and reading is fundamental for Literacy!
In Literacy, we have been exploring persuasive texts. We have been building the foundations of a persuasive text focussed on what side they were on of the topic 'Every school should have a canteen'. From there students then formulated 3 reasons and collated them into an introduction paragraph. We then made body paragraphs about their 3 reasons and finished off their persuasive texts with a conclusion.
In Numeracy, students have been focussed on telling the time. They have explored the minutes of the clock and that 60 minutes is equal to an hour. We have matched analogue times to digital and have been learning how to write various times with past and to language. They have enjoyed making clocks and exploring this concept!
In Science, they have been exploring sound energy and how this works. The students enjoyed discovering echolocation, which they then used in a fun game with a partner!
Next week, Swimming starts for the 3's and 4's with the 2's swimming the following week. Monday the 25th August is also a pupil free day, so no school next Monday!
