Grade One / Two

We hope you are enjoying your week. Can you believe that we are already past the half-way mark for this term? It seems to be flying by now that the weather has improved a little and the days are getting longer. 

GRADE 1 & 2 UPDATE

Year 1  

• In Literacy: learning about the ‘doubling rule’(FloSS) and the suffix ‘y’ and ‘ey’(adjectives). 
• In Numeracy: learning how to recognise, continue and create number and object patterns, including skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.  

Year 2  

• In Literacy: learning about the prefix ‘re’, and the phonemes ‘soft c’ (ce, ci, cy) and /g/ (ge, gi, gy), revising conjunctions. We will also be introduced to the storybook ‘The Day the Crayons Came Home’. 
• In Numeracy: learning about multiplication and division, how quantities can be combined and separated to form new quantities. 

SWIMMING PROGRAM

The yearly Swimming Program begins this Friday 5th September. The students will be swimming on the following dates: 

• Friday 5th September 
• Monday 8th September 
• Thursday 11 September 
• Friday 12th September 
• Monday 15th September 

• Thursday 18th September 

   

On swimming days, please ensure that your child: 

• wears their bathers to school under their uniform. 
• packs a swimming bag with a towel, underwear, goggles and a hairbrush.

STATEMENT OF INTENT

ART UPDATE

After learning about the life and style of Monet, students in Year Two created their mixed media masterpieces.

Our Prep students were exposed to the Māori art style Koru. They learnt about warm colours and created these unique pieces.
