Students were extremely excited when they saw the Blurbs perform and were able to dress up for book week. Thank you to all of the families for the enormous effort in organising the costumes. We have been extremely lucky to have so many special events at school recently and this term will continue to be busy with our Foundation, year one and two incursion, school athletics carnival, swimming, and donuts for Dads.
Each Monday afternoon, one student from each class receives an award. This term, awards are given to students displaying the qualities of Henry Backhaus including independence, persistence, using their initiative and doing something which may challenge them. Award winners will be acknowledged at the next assembly on the slide show. Congratulations to the award winners for Term 3 weeks 6 and 7.
FSC: Eloise & Delilah M

Today (Monday), Foundation, Grade One and Grade Two students enjoyed their incursion day. Students participated in special activities, including a science lab, Australian animal zoo and Kelly Sports.
This Thursday (4th of September) the students will participate in our whole school athletics day at the Flora Hill athletics track. Students will travel by bus from the school and will return to school after lunch. Just a reminder that students can wear their house colours on athletics day and will need to bring plenty of snacks and water for the day. Here is a list of the students' house colours for the day:
Blue
Yellow
Green
Red

The Foundation students have been learning lots of new tricky words each week and as the term progresses, we will continue to learn more. Could you please continue to practice the tricky words with your child each night or morning when they undertake their reading. The tricky words can be found in the back of the students' white reading diaries.
We are still in desperate need of more glue sticks for our Foundation students and would appreciate it if families could donate more to their children’s classroom. If possible, the blue Bostik brand would be preferred.
