St Virgil’s College continues to engage with the Pulse Application. This is used to identify and collate data on our student’s wellbeing and provides the opportunity to respond. Analysing our data, we have identified the category of Positive sense of Identity and Culture as an area of growth.

Sense of Identity
A few of the questions asked under the positive sense of identity and culture category:
I see positive representations of people who are like me in school resources, television, social media.
I experience discrimination.
I have role models I can look up to in my school.
I have the same opportunities at school as other students in my school.

I can be myself at home.
Do you feel out of place because of who you are?

As a College and Welfare Team, the area of positive sense of identity and culture is our focus. Our data collection has identified that students are concerned regarding their ‘sense of belonging’. We shall be developing resources for the Extended Pastoral Care Program in the coming weeks and aim to develop a program with external and internal support.
We continue to support and encourage our students to peruse leadership opportunities at the College. The Welfare Team and I will be commencing the interviews in Week 6.
Our Leadership training and continued each week on a Monday and Friday.
Thank you to Mr Jon Franzin, Mr Michael Farrell and Miss Annalé Van Heerden for presenting and supporting our leaders growth so far.
These sessions will continue with our amazing arrange of leadership styles and qualities from our staff until Week 7. Our interviews will commence in Week 6.
Thank you to our amazing P&F Committee for inviting Kelsey Batchelor and me to discuss the positive impact of the Pulse Wellbeing Application for our students and brainstorm a range of Parent Education Sessions that the Welfare Team can present. The purpose of these sessions is to allow our parents to understand what content we are producing for their student but most importantly, to strengthen the partnership with home and the College.
