Dear Parents and Students,

Term 3 has certainly begun with great energy and enthusiasm. In just our second day back, we celebrated one of JMSS’s most cherished traditions – Harmony Day. This year’s event was bigger than ever, with two performance stages showcasing both dance and instrumental talent. It was a truly joyful celebration of our diverse community and a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity and belonging at JMSS.

Not long after, our school spirit was on full display in the much-loved Lip Sync House Challenge. Each house produced a creative and entertaining video that highlighted the talent, humour, and teamwork of our students – and even some of our staff! The competition was fierce, and we all look forward to finding out which house will take the crown at the next assembly.

Alongside these student-led events, our learners have also been taking part in Olympiads, ICAS competitions, and course counselling. It has been wonderful to see so many students embrace these opportunities with curiosity and commitment. At JMSS, we know how important it is for students with heavy academic loads to also find joy and balance through different interests and challenges. I encourage everyone to keep this “give it a go” mindset as we move towards the end of the year and, for many, the exam period.

Our recent Parent–Teacher–Student Conferences provided valuable feedback on student progress, and I’d like to remind families of a fantastic school resource – JMSS Pro Tips. This website, created by our staff, is designed to support students in achieving their best. The Strategies for Success page is particularly helpful, offering practical advice on everything from healthy sleep routines to effective study techniques.

Finally, Term 3 is an exciting time for student leadership. Nominations are now open for our 2026 leadership positions, and students have been informed about the range of roles available. Applications close on 23rd August, and I wish all applicants the very best in the process.

Regards,
