What a big fortnight at TPS!
Mr Hogan
What a huge fortnight we have had at our amazing school. Just over the past fortnight, we have celebrated Science Week, Book Week, finished Boys to the Bush, started Girls Empowerment, had 3-6 Athletics in Kyabram, competed in the Regional Soccer in Swan Hill and had a Pupil Free Day where our teachers built their skills around Wellbeing and Child Safe practices. What an amazing fortnight!
Last week was Science Week. This was an opportunity for all students to get creative, participate in a range of experiments and visit some interesting places.
Our Grade 3/4 students visited the new Tongala Nutrition Factory, whilst our Grade 5/6 students visited Ky P-12 College and used their Science labs to conduct some experiments.
Unfortunately the Super Science Circus show was postponed until next week, and our F-2 students have an excursion to Twisted coming up, so the great Science things are continuing.
Straight from Science Week, into celebrating Book Week this week. The week kicked off with an amazing Book parade on Monday morning, with some amazing costumes on show and lots of fun.

We have also had visits from Linda from Tongala Library to conduct Book Week sessions with all students.
Also, our Library redevelopment has started with new shelving and a larger space. It looks fantastic!
Our Grade 3-6 students travelled to Ky P-12 College last Friday to participate in the local athletics carnival.

Again, our students performed exceptionally well against bigger schools and lots of numbers. Most importantly, our students represented the school extremely well. We now have a large team of athletes who have qualified for the Bendigo District Athletics on September 15th.

Our House Athletics for all students will be held on Wednesday 3rd September. This is always a fantstic day.
Our Girls soccer team travelled to Swan Hill on Tuesday to participate in the Regional Soccer tournament. Playing against bigger and more experienced schools, our girls certainly held their own, coming away with 1 victory and 2 close losses.

A big thank you to Mrs Pridham for driving the girls and Brayden and John Forde for coaching the team.
Our Term 3 Boys to the Bush program ended on Tuesday, with a celebration day for the boys. Over the past 5 weeks, the group of boys have had some incredible experiences, stepped out of their comfort zones and represented our school extremely well.

The feedback from the Boys to the Bush MENtors was aways positive, highlighting the growth in confidence over the length of the program.
We look forward to sending another 10 boys to the Term 4 program.
Yesterday, our Girls Empowerment program also began. This program teaches our girls a range of different wellbeing and lifestyle skills in a fun, safe, non-threatening environment. Melissa Pearce co-ordinates this 5 week program, which is funded through the Community Bank. Over the 5 weeks, the girls will be doing some Self defence classes, listen to some guest speakers, take part in Art lessons and simply enjoy their time together.
On Sunday afternoon, our hard-working Parents and Friends have their Movie Fundraiser running at the Kyabram Plaza, with the screening of the Smurfs movie. We hope to have lots there enjoying the movie and supporting our school.
All schools are tightening up their Child Safe requirements to ensure a safe community for all. Working With Children's Checks are a must for anyone who is undertaking a role in our school. All visitors, even if attending assembly or special days, must sign in and out of the office, as we need to have a record of who is on site at all times.
You will now see large signs around the school to remind us of this.

The school has developed a number of Child Safe policies, which are on our Website under the Child Safe tab. Please feel free to look through these and provide any feedback to Melissa or myself in regard to these.
Our bi-annual school fete will be happening on Friday, November7th.
The Fete committee have got the wheels moving for the Fete but we still need helpers. If anyone would like to be involved, please speak to Cherish Todd or Karen in the office.
Our School Fete is our major fundraiser for the year, so any help to make this a fantastic evening will be greatly appreciated.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Rob
