Why is Kingfisher Fair important to who we are?
The Kingfisher Fair is our opportunity to share our community with the wider community of Albany. How do we do this? We do this through:
- Sharing our campus with the wider community with pride.
- We partner with community organisations to raise their profile and help them raise much-needed funds for their causes. This year, the Albany Youth Support Association will be hosting a sausage sizzle at our Fair to raise money for their vital work. The Kalgan Volunteer Bushfire Brigade will be on site, providing entertainment with one of their Fire Trucks and raising money to keep our local community safe during fire season. These are two very worthy causes that the P&F chose to partner with us at the Fair.
- As part of the expanded Fair, we now incorporate the school’s Open Day, showcasing our students and teaching talent to the rest of our community, once again with pride. We will be showcasing our Music, Drama, Media, Technologies and Science departments.
- We will be holding a Market Stall. If you have items you would like to donate on the day (or a little earlier), please let julia.bairstow@gsg.wa.edu.au know. This could be pot plants, home-grown fruit and vegetables, firewood, homemade cards, books, games and toys in good condition, bags of manure etc.
- We provide our students with a platform to showcase their classroom talents, serve as examples within our community and showcase their entrepreneurial skills. Some of our students will also be at the Fair, running their own stalls on behalf of the amusements offered on the day by the P&F or operating their own commercial entities. We wish them well and hope they shine on the day.
So why is it important for our families to attend and invite their friends and extended families? This is a unique event in our corner of the world. It is important that we attend on the day to celebrate one or all of the reasons above. How can you make the day better for our community? Please consider volunteering a small part of your day to help our big day. Please sign up here VolunteerSignup - Online volunteer signup sheets - Kingfisher Fair & Open Day Volunteers signup sheet
Please note that the timeslots asking for help with the Giant Inflatables have been changed to one-hour timeslots. You will receive an induction and then your role will be to mark off the timeslot on children's wristbands and then time the session. Couldn't be easier!!
To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do.
If you have any queries, please email Community Engagement & Enrolments Manager, Mrs Julia Bairstow.
I look forward to celebrating our day with you and your family.

GSG Big Sleepout
Our amazing Year Eleven Certificate IV Business class has been working tirelessly to organise the Albany Big Sleepout event. As part of their efforts, they recently hosted two movie nights, one for Secondary students and one for Primary students, featuring Ratatouille and Happy Gilmore 2. Both events were a fantastic success, raising over $800 to support homelessness in Albany, contributing to their ambitious fundraising goal of $60,000.
This Saturday, all their hard work will come to life! Join us from 4.30pm at the Ag Society Western Pavilion, Cockburn Road, for an evening full of fun and community spirit. The event will feature live performances from our Year Eleven VET Music students (backing up after a big night with Radio Active), as well as other talented local acts. There will be food available for a small donation, plus family-friendly games, activities and vendor stalls.
We warmly encourage all families to come along, enjoy the festivities and show your support for our dedicated Year Eleven students and the Albany community.
If you are unable to attend, we would still love your support through a donation via the link below: Donate here https://community-bank-albanys-big-sleep-out-2025.raiselysite.com/
