Environmental Education News

This term, all students from Foundation right through to Year 6 are building their understanding of Ecosystems.

Foundation students explored the rainforest where they created amazing animal masks and created a huge rainforest vine that now hangs in the environmental education room.

Year 1/2 students dived into the ocean ecosystem where they learnt about the 5 different layers of our oceans and created an eye-catching diorama with a variety of sea creatures suspended by string living in their correct ocean layer.

Year 3/4 students ventured into the rainforest ecosystem where they learnt about the 4 layers of a rainforest. All students helped to create an amazing 3D landscape of the rainforest that included many different plants and animals that would call a rainforest their home.

Year 5/6 students went on safari through the desert ecosystem where they learnt about animal and plant adaptations that help them to survive in this hot and dry environment. Students also got their science skills to work by dissecting an aloe vera leaf to discover what was inside and had a close up look under the microscope.
