Book Week: Book an Adventure
This week we have been celebrating Book Week, one of my favourite weeks in the school calendar! This year’s theme is Book an Adventure, and we kicked off the celebrations with a special Book Week Assembly on Monday morning. The highlight was a vibrant parade featuring students, staff, and parents dressed as different book characters with so many impressive and creative costumes! It was wonderful to see such high participation from everyone, including our Kindergarten students and staff joining in the fun.
Celebrating Book Week is so important as it fosters a love of reading, sparks imagination, and encourages students to explore new ideas and perspectives through books. It also helps build a strong community spirit around literacy and learning. A big thank you to our student leaders for their fantastic job leading the assembly and helping to make the start of Book Week memorable and extra special for all our students.
Special Lunch: Wednesday 27th August
Reminder: if you would like to order a Special Lunch for your child, please do this on Sentral no later than Monday 25th August. For $9.00 your child will receive 2 sushi rolls, a glee juice and a chocolate treat. Don’t miss out, unfortunately late orders cannot be accepted.
Pyjama Day: Wednesday 3rd September
Our Student Voice Council has proudly organised our Term 3 fundraising event—Pyjama Day! On this special day, all students are encouraged to come to school dressed in their pyjamas, oodies, or dressing gowns and bring along a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go directly to Foodbank, a vital organisation that supports our school community in many ways. Foodbank plays an essential role in providing nutritious food for our daily Breakfast Club and also delivers fortnightly supplies to our school, including fresh fruit, bread, cereals, honey, milk, and more. This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back and show our appreciation for the continued support Foodbank offers to our students and families.
Father’s Day Celebration: Friday 5th September
To celebrate the fathers and father figures in the ARPS community, we will be having a special Afternoon Tea and Assembly in their honour. The event will take place in the school hall, beginning with afternoon tea from 2:30pm to 3:00pm, followed by a special assembly from 3:00pm to 3:30pm. The assembly will feature a video presentation and a book reading, acknowledging the vital role father figures play in the lives of our students.
Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other significant male role models provide encouragement and guidance that supports and contributes deeply to a child's emotional and social development. Celebrating them is a way of recognising the positive impact they have, not only within families, but also within our wider school community. Please mark this date in your calendar. We would love to see as many of our ARPS dads and father figures as possible join us for this special occasion.
Victorian State School Spectacular: Saturday 13th September
This year we have 16 students performing in the Victorian State School Spectacular at John Cain Arena on Saturday 13th September.
If you would like to purchase tickets to see the show you can buy tickets here:

Our students will be performing in both the matinee and evening show and they will be performing in the mass dance items in Quadrant 4 – (North East) Sections 7, 8, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 52 & 53. This will be helpful when selecting your tickets online so that you are seated near the dancers. Thank you to Miss Trish Brewer and Mr Joseph D’Souza for supporting the students at all the rehearsals and getting them performance ready!
Sunsmart Hats
From Monday 25th August, all students will need to wear a SunSmart hat at school every day. Our Sun Protection Policy requires students to wear a SunSmart hat from mid-August through to 30 April each year, as UV levels are higher during this period. Please support your child by making sure they have their hat at school each day from next week. Thank you for helping to keep our children safe in the sun.
