COATS & JACKETS NEEDED & FOOD BANK DRIVE
Sacred Heart Primary School was founded by the Good Samaritan nuns over 100 years ago. As a Good Samaritan school we look to the parable that teaches us to help our neighbour in need regardless of their background and to act with compassion towards all people - especially those who are vulnerable, isolated or in need.
In this spirit, I draw your attention to two great initiatives that we are supporting for the rest of the term here at Sacred Heart.
One of our wonderful Sacred Heart parents suggested we do a coat drive to donate to the charity Off Your Back.
Bring any unwanted coats and jackets that you could donate to school (There will be a box set up in the office area) and then we will do the rest!!
This weekend FOOD BANK in Victoria is having its biggest ever food drive-you can donate online, if you are in the position to do so they would love the support. Thank you to Denise for bringing it to my attention. FOOD BANK Victoria supplies and distributes food to many people and charities across Melbourne and Victoria.
They are looking SPECIFICALLY for eight staple items that are most in demand: Tuna, Pasta Sauce, Pasta, Rice, Cereal, UHT Milk, Canned Fruit and Canned Vegetables.
I will put a donation box in the office area to collect any non perishable staples and will drop off to the centre every few weeks if you are able to make a small contribution.
Other Items Needed:
Canned meals, veggies, fruit, soup and fish Oats and cereal Longlife milk, Tea & coffee Pasta, rice & noodles Baked beans Pasta sauces Flour & bakery mixes Spreads & jams Meal bases Whole grains, pulses & legumes, Nuts & seed mixes, Vegetable oils, Washing products, Nappies, Sanitary items, Toilet paper, Dental products
Enjoy the weekend & take care,
Kate
