Year 5 Parliament Prize
Year 5 student Mona Bachmann has impressed our local Member for Caulfield, David Southwick MP, with her entry in this year’s Parliament Prize, a statewide competition inviting students to record their own 90-second Member’s Statement on an issue that matters to them.
Mona’s powerful statement, 'Let’s Make Victoria the Sun Safe State Together', stood out for its creativity, thoughtful message and strong awareness of an important community issue.
Recently, Mr Southwick visited Kilvington to personally acknowledge Mona’s efforts. Well done, Mona!

Year 9 Impact Program
Stephanie Vergenis and Josie Clyne, Year 9
In our final term of Year 9, with exams fast approaching, our focus in the Impact Program has been on academic wellbeing and how to stay calm and focused under exam pressure.
We recently took part in two workshops run by Felstead Education, where we learned some really helpful strategies for managing stress and performing our best in exams. We were introduced to breathing exercises and meditation techniques to improve focus and clear our minds from distractions, a must when studying or sitting exams!
We also attended presentations from our Heads of Faculty in Science, Mathematics and English, who outlined the key knowledge and skills we'll require for each exam. They shared a range of useful resources and study techniques, including practice questions, mind maps, summary sheets and timed writing exercises. After each presentation, we had the opportunity to reflect on our own exam readiness and to put these study strategies into practice.
The knowledge and skills we’ve gained this term have been so valuable, not just for our upcoming exams, but for helping us manage stress and study smarter in the years ahead.
Years 10 and 11 Art Making and Exhibiting Excursion
Sophie Reese, Year 11
On 16 October, the Years 10 and 11 Art Making and Exhibiting students visited the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) and Buxton Contemporary as part of our Art studies. The excursion provided an opportunity to explore diverse perspectives from around the world through viewing unique and thought-provoking artworks.
At ACCA, we learned about how artist Tschabalala Self expresses her experiences as an African American woman in contemporary America, and the challenges she has faced within that environment.
Moving on to Buxton Contemporary, we explored The Veil Exhibition, which showcased a range of First Nations artists’ perspectives on spirituality and self.
It was an enjoyable and inspiring day that allowed us to appreciate the many creative and distinctive ways that exhibitions can be curated.
