Dear Parents and Students,

As the 2024 year draws to a close, I look back on a year with fondness. This year, we again celebrate the incredible academic achievements of our students. The results obtained by our Year 12s were nothing short of phenomenal! But that is not what necessarily fills me with joy and pride - What does is the exceptional character our graduates and other students demonstrate daily as compassionate, ethically-minded individuals who show remarkable depth in their thinking.

In the classroom, our students consistently pushed the boundaries of knowledge, embracing challenges with a genuine curiosity that fueled their love of learning. They critically reflected, always questioned, and constantly strove to deepen their understanding and improve their practices. This ability to assess and learn from their experiences sets them apart as not just students but as lifelong learners.

Beyond academics, the character of our students shone through in everything they did. Whether in group projects, extracurricular activities, or everyday interactions, our students demonstrated empathy, integrity, and a commitment to making JMSS an inclusive and vibrant community. Each developing the skills and knowledge to not only understand the complexities of the world around them but also to take action and drive positive change.

This combination of academic excellence and outstanding character makes me most proud. Our students are developing the capacity to shape the future through their intellectual abilities and unwavering commitment to ethics, collaboration, and social responsibility. They are truly becoming leaders and innovators who will make a lasting impact on society.

I would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to all of our amazing staff… my colleagues. Thank you for your effort and dedication. I am inspired by the way you all show up each and every. It challenges me to follow suit. To be present in every conversation. To strive to improve. To be my best. The culture at JMSS is the way it is because of my colleagues. I would especially like to recognise the departing Principal, my colleague, mentor and friend, Peter Corkill. JMSS is what it is because of you. Words simply cannot express my respect for you and all you’ve achieved. I am so grateful to have worked with you for many years and have learned so much from you. I wish you all the best on your next adventure.

Finally, I wish to remind everyone of several important contacts over the holiday period. If anyone is experiencing significant distress, please contact any of the organisations below;

I hope staff and students have a fantastic and safe break.
