Get to know Rebecca Jones

What is your role in the College? I have been a Teachers Aid for almost 8 years at Truganina P-9 College.

What is your favourite colour?  My favourite colour is Purple.

What is your favourite number and why? My favourite numbers are 8, 12 and 15. These numbers are very important to me and my family.

What is your favourite book and why? One of my favourite books is called Torn Apart by James Patterson. This is because it's a true story about a boy/man with Tourette's syndrome and his struggles in life with it.

What is your favourite food?  I will always love a home cooked meal but my favourite is when my dad cooks his sausage rolls, and my other favourite is popcorn.

What do you like most about teaching and learning? The things I enjoy the most about teaching is being able to support our most vulnerable students and work with them on their strengths and weaknesses so they can achieve their personal goals. The thing I like most about learning is that you never stop learning or never too old to try something new.

Get to know Yuan Yang

What is your role in the College? My role is 1B classroom teacher.

What is your favourite colour? My favourite colour is red! It’s a symbol of love and is deeply lucky in Chinese culture. Red’s vibrant energy always inspires me and fills me with positivity.

What is your favourite number and why? Ten is my favourite number because it represents perfection to me. While no one can truly be perfect, striving to do something more than ten times often leads to better results. For me, ten is a reminder of persistence and continuous improvement.

What is your favourite book and why? This year, I read a heartwarming book called I Love Dogs about caring for a puppy. It became even more special because I adopted my very first dog—a six-year-old Bichon Frise—at the end of this October! She’s my little princess and the dream pet I’ve always longed for. Every page of that book resonates with the joy and responsibility of welcoming her into my life.

What is your favourite food? I adore Asian cuisine! From savory to spicy, I enjoy every bite, especially when I’m hungry. I guess you could say my taste buds are as adventurous as I am.

What do you like most about teaching and learning?  What excites me most about teaching and learning is the magic of discovery—both for myself and my students. It’s the moment when someone’s eyes light up because they’ve grasped a new idea, or when I find a creative way to make something complex feel simple. Every day brings a new challenge and a chance to grow together!
