Performing Arts
Last Friday, Year 2 and 3 students came together to perform their work in front of an enthusiastic audience of family members and peers. They demonstrated the power of teamwork as they worked diligently throughout the term to perfect the songs within their year levels. Each student played an essential role, with everyone contributing to the success of the event.
A particular highlight of the performance was the solo acts. Several students stepped into the spotlight, showing remarkable bravery and talent as they delivered their lines with an assured level of confidence beyond their years, especially as it was the first time some of them had been on the stage! The dedication and skill of all the students established a great example to others throughout the college, and their performances were met with well-deserved applause and praise throughout from a supportive audience.
Despite the heat, the students handled the situation with resilience and poise. They demonstrated professionalism and adaptability, keeping their focus and delivering a great performance regardless of what was happening around them. This experience not only showed their growth as performers but also their ability to persevere if things don’t go according to plan—a valuable life skill.
Following the performance, students took time to reflect on what went well and where they could improve. Through guided lessons, they evaluated their own contributions and responded thoughtfully to feedback from peers and teachers. These reflection sessions are an integral part of the learning process, as they allow students to identify their strengths and pinpoint areas for growth. This reflective practice links closely to the curriculum, where students are encouraged to assess and improve their skills in presenting and performing work to an audience. By examining their successes and considering the challenges they faced, they are learning to adapt and refine their skills for future performances.
The performance last Friday was not just a showcase of talent, but also a celebration of the hard work, resilience, and teamwork that Year 2 and 3 students have shown throughout the term. The skills they have developed in presenting, performing, and reflecting will serve them well in future endeavours, both in and out of the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to the next chapter of their learning journey!
