Welcome to Term 1, 2025!
We are part of a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world. At All Saints’ College, we are committed to equipping our students with the skills and mindsets they need to thrive in this world.
As a proud Research Partner in Melbourne Metrics’ 'New Metrics for Success' program, we are working with educational experts across Australia to ensure that our academic offerings develop students’ knowledge, skills and competencies across all areas of their development. We believe in empowering our students to have agency in their learning – a key competency for success.
Conversation is a key foundation for student agency. We encourage our Senior School parents to take moments before and/or after school to engage in dialogue with their children—whether it is discussing their learning, sharing ideas, or simply connecting about their day. These conversations help foster social emotional wellbeing, develop communication skills and build learner agency.
We look forward to an exciting and fulfilling year ahead, working together to nurture unbound learners who are curious, connected, and ready for the future.
MAKING CONTACT ABOUT CURRICULUM MATTERS
The first stop for all inquiries should be with the student’s classroom teacher and then the relevant Head of Department. A full list of contacts can be found on MyASC.
COURSE CHANGES
Year 11 2025 Course changes
Any request to change courses needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Changes are possible up until the end of Week 4, Term 1 2025. Students should see Mr Shackleton if they would like to explore changes. It is a College requirement that students undertake six courses in Year 11. Students will have the opportunity to review and request possible changes to courses after the Semester 1 Examinations.
Year 12 2025 Course changes and withdrawals
Any request to change course needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Please be aware Year 12 students cannot change courses after Week 4, Term 1 2025, and mid-year changes are not possible. Students have until the end of Term 2 2025 to withdraw from a complete course, on condition that WACE achievement requirements are met.
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN)
Wednesday 12 March – Monday 24 March 2025
NAPLAN is a national assessment, and all Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students are expected to participate. The tests are designed to provide a summative, nationally comparable understanding of student performance in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. No undue emphasis is placed on these tests. They provide some valuable information to teachers, parents and students. However, those results do not have an impact on their school reports. The assessment work completed throughout the year is the best indicator of your child’s progress.
A schedule for the Term 1 NAPLAN assessments and further information can be found on
MyASC under Curriculum Information.
For more information about NAPLAN visit nap.edu.au
CHANGE OF CONTACT DETAILS
Please submit any change in contact details via the Parent Gateway on SEQTA by the end of Week 4 to ensure the registration and demographic upload to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) is correct.
2025 STUDENT RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS AND OTHER INFORMATION COLLECTION
The College is required each year to provide information to the Australian Government regarding students’ residential addresses in line with the Department of Education requirements. The next data collection date is Wednesday 12 March 2025. This information is used to ensure Federal funding arrangements for non-government schools are based on need, and are fair and transparent. Full details are given in the document “Collection Notice for parents/guardians of students: 2025 Student Residential Address and Other Information”.
To ensure that the data we provide to the Federal Government is accurate, we ask parents and guardians to update their information on my MyASC before 28 February 2025.
Thank you for assisting with this Government requirement.
Recordings of the Parent Information Sessions are available on MyASC via the link below. The Year 9/10 recording will be available after Monday 17 February. https://myasc.ascollege.wa.edu.au/curriculum/parent-information-night-course-selection-resources
