MCSC - Student Council
Mordialloc College Student Council - Reach Workshop
On Thursday 5th of December, the MCSC met in LC1 and LC2 to take part in Reach’s leadership workshop.
Led by presenters Jack and Liz, we began learning about each other and talking to new people through icebreaker activities, exploring each other’s different experiences and perspectives. As all of us were deep in discussion, a phone at the front rang intermittently, inviting one of the courageous MCSC members to pick it up. Each student took this opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and present themselves in front of an audience, whether it was speaking about their lives, answering questions, or moving to a beat.
After that, Jack and Liz introduced us to the “Hero’s Journey”, which describes the process in which someone can overcome tasks not just in a fantasy setting or an important moment, but also in small things throughout the day. To finish off the workshop, we had an interview session where two students at the front responded to various types of questions, asked by the two presenters as well as other students.
Coming out of the experience, I really enjoyed the activities, especially learning about each other and partaking in discussions, as well as stepping outside of our comfort zones. From that, I believe that we will be much more prepared to take initiative for ourselves and our community, and we will be looking forward to being part of the MCSC in 2025.
