Our persuasive writing focus continues with students becoming more adept at providing reasons for their opinions.
This time of year is a wonderful time to reflect on student's reading progress. Fluency of reading has increased, and awareness of using punctuation to add expression and demonstrate comprehension when reading out loud is evident.
Linking our reading and writing, you might like to choose your favourite book and tell someone in your family why it is your favourite. You could try to convince them to read it to you.

Our explorations into place value and developing fluency and automaticity continue.
We have also been working on data collection, graphing, and interpreting the results. As a family you could create your own data collection by following these steps:
If you choose a topic rather than asking people you might like to track the weather across two weeks and track if days are sunny, cloudy, or rainy. You could sit in your driveway and count the colours of cars that drive past in one hour. There are so many different ways to collect and use data!

Our excursion to Seabrook Reserve was a resounding success. Students had a wonderful time exploring the facilities and making connections to the mapping and geography studies we have been participating in during learning times. It was fantastic to see our parent community connecting with each other and supporting the event.
We released a series of photos on Compass for parents to enjoy. These are also printed and posted on the window of the 1/2 building should you wish to take a look at pick up or drop off.
