School uniform

by Ms Shareen Bottrell, Assistant Principal

In 2025, there will be a greater focus on ensuring all our students attend school dressed in the correct uniform. Our school uniform supports our students to take pride in their appearance, develop a sense of belonging to the school and be recognised as members of the Box Hill High School community. We are proud of our school image in the community and an important part of this is the school uniform being worn, both at school and on the way to and from school.

Box Hill High School has a compulsory uniform where students are required to be in full academic school uniform every day unless there is an approved ‘free dress’ event or they have a sport or PE practical class schedule on that day.

If there is a reason that a student is unable to be in full school uniform, a note from the parent/carer is required for the sub-school and a uniform pass will be provided for that day.

Full school uniform is to be worn on all school excursions and sporting events, unless otherwise notified. Parents should contact the relevant Sub-school Coordinator if there are financial obstacles regarding uniform, and we can support with required uniform items.

I would like to emphasise key focus areas that sub-schools will be closely monitoring in 2025:

  1. Students must wear black leather school shoes with academic uniform.  (include photo) No casual shoes eg. Vans, Nike Air Force, etc

  2. Students must wear BHHS tracksuit pants with the BHHS logo only on sports/HPE days.

  3. Non brand white and black socks must be worn.

  4. Students must have a BHHS student bag.

No earbuds of headphones allowed during the school day unless part of a learning activity.

We are focussing on improving student’s attention to enhance learning opportunity, so students are not allowed to have headphones during class time.

Breaches of the uniform expectations will be managed using the processes outlined in the school’s Engagement and Wellbeing policies.
