Semester reports

by Mr Greg Breese, Assistant Principal

Semester Two reports were published on Monday 16 December. These reports provide students and parents with a high-level overview of each student’s learning and achievement this semester. They provide feedback on growth in each curriculum area and how your child has achieved on significant assessment tasks.

When reading your child's school report, parents should focus on the overall progress shown by students and how your child has improved. When you first read through the report, start by highlighting the positive feedback and areas of strength. This positive framing can help to set a balanced tone for the report and avoid being overly critical or fixating on a single disappointing result.

Looking for patterns in your child’s development can provide a clearer direction for where further support might be needed.

After reading the report, parents should discuss the report with your child in a supportive way. Ask open-ended questions to understand their perspective on their strengths and challenges. This fosters a growth mindset, where the focus is on learning from mistakes and setting achievable goals for improvement, rather than just stressing over specific grades.
