7 GAPP Art Masterclass

Visit to Balwyn High School

On Wednesday 20 November, the 7 GAPP class travelled to Balwyn High School to participate in an Art Masterclass with the 7 SEAL class.

Students worked collaboratively with their Balwyn counterparts to learn about the importance of making connections and considered examples from the past where artists such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat worked together.

During the session, students created their own line drawings which represented their thinking about being GAPP students, and then these were given to another student who ‘added’ to their artwork using acrylic paint, watercolours and collage.

Students provided positive feedback about their experiences:

Aimee: ‘I enjoyed that we got to do a more interpretive task … It was well planned and we had plenty of time to get things done’

Zi: ‘I enjoyed painting and drawing and the creative aspects of the masterclass. I liked meeting like-minded people with similar problems, interests and ideas’

Jessie: ‘I learned that there are many ways to communicate and connect with people throughout your life’
