Class of 2024: A Finale to Remember!

Term 4 has been an exciting and emotional time as we bid farewell to our incredible Year 12 cohort. The celebrations kicked off with some fun and nostalgic dress-up days, including What You Want to Be When You Grow Up and Primary School Uniform Day. Students embraced the themes with creativity and humour, filling the school with laughter and good vibes.

One of the highlights was the Year 12 Movie Night, where students gathered to watch High School Musical: Senior Year. With pizza in hand and plenty of singing along, it was a chance to unwind and reflect on their own journey through high school.

The celebrations continued with the Year 12 Breakfast; a special morning shared with families. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, reflect on the journey, and celebrate the students’ achievements over a delicious meal. This was followed by the final Year 12 Assembly, which was a mix of talent, gratitude, and heartfelt goodbyes. Students showcased their singing and dancing skills, filling the room with energy and pride. A touching video featured messages of thanks to their teachers, and the Head of Senior School, Jess Sheppard and Year 12 Coordinator, Arabella Thompson shared inspiring words and their favourite memories as they bid farewell to this remarkable group.

After three intense weeks of exams, the festivities concluded with Valedictory Night, where students celebrated their hard work and achievements. It was a night filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of dancing as they marked the end of their high school journey in style.

To the Class of 2024, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Congratulations on an incredible year and best wishes for the exciting adventures ahead!

Year 11: A Season of Leadership, Achievement and Celebration

Term 4 has been an inspiring and action-packed time for our Year 11 students, filled with milestones, leadership opportunities, and exciting transitions as they prepare to step into Year 12 in 2025. Here’s a look back at their many accomplishments and contributions during this final term of the year.

2025 Year 12 Prefects

Early this term, we were thrilled to announce our 2025 School Captain, Amiya C, and our School Vice-Captains, Cheryl C and Marcus S. All three students have shown outstanding leadership as Year 11 Leaders this year, and we trust that they will continue to serve the students of Box Hill HS with authenticity and integrity. Together, they are a cohesive, dynamic and well-rounded team, and we cannot wait to see what they have in store for us as captains next year.

Following this, after a few weeks of rigorous interviews, we selected the rest of our 2025 Prefect Team:

  • Taj F - Freeman House Prefect
  • Louie H - Blackburn House Prefect

An update from Room 210: VCE Vocational Major

This term our dedicated Year 11 Vocational Major students ran a Christmas donation drive, where they encouraged the school students and staff to donate food items and stationery supplies to be donated to FareShare and Backpacks 4 VIC Kids. As an incentive, they even gave out Zooper Doopers to students in the house who gave the most donations. Congratulations on finishing the year on such a successful initiative Year 11 VM!

Year 12 Exams

In October and November, 172 of our Year 11 students also completed their first Year 12 exams across a range of studies including Maths Methods, Physics, Business Management, Chinese, Biology, Art, Psychology, Drama, Geography, Media, History, VCD, PE, HHD, Accounting and more. It was a nerve-wracking time for many, but it was wonderful to see students finish their Year 12 studies with smiling faces before each exam. We wish them all the best with their results.

Year 11 Exams and Year 12 Jumpstart

Continuing their exam season with composure, students then went straight into their Year 11 exams, and then into Year 12 Jumpstart. Here, they spent a week with in their Year 12 classes, with many of their Year 12 teachers, learning new material from their 2025 courses. It was a big finish to the term, which I hope was just as rewarding as it was tiring.

Celebration Afternoon

Finally, the Year 11s finished off the year with a celebration afternoon, which included a pizza lunch and the handing over of the Year 12 Study Centre to our Class of 2025. We hope you love your new space, and that you continue to make happy memories there over the course of the next 11 months.

On behalf of the whole Senior School Team, we congratulate you on a BIG term, and we hope you have a relaxing and fun break before the next big year ahead. Well done, Year 11s.
