Principal's Report

by Ms Kellie Ind

As Principal of Box Hill High School, I am proud of what the school has achieved in 2024 in student learning, achievement, engagement and wellbeing. Our performance measures have been strong in many areas – as evidenced by the Department's Performance Report that rated the school as a High Performing School.

These good outcomes are the result of dedicated teachers who collaborate regularly to improve student learning outcomes, the Sub-school Coordinators, the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion teams, the Careers team, the IT team, the Library staff, and our caring Educational Support staff who ensure all the programs and operations of the school run smoothly and provide opportunities for students to utilise their strengths.

I also want to recognise the dedication and efforts of my talented and passionate leadership team who strive to ensure the school provides a high quality education for all students.

I want to make special mention of our student leaders across every year level who have stepped up and developed their skills in communication, leadership and contributing to the wider community through their roles in assemblies, school presentations, special wellbeing and cultural themes days and support for their peers.

Next year we continue to embed evidence-based strategies for writing and numeracy improvement, embed tiered supports for all students, build students goal-setting skills to enable stronger student agency, and implement the Department’s Disability Inclusion Model. We are also still focused on strengthening school belonging, school pride and communication across the school.

Farewell to our Class of 2024 and VCE results summary

Well done and farewell to our 218 Year 12 students who have finally finished 13 years of schooling – now for the next chapter of your lives! We celebrated this wonderful milestone with students, staff and families at the new venue of Caulfield Racecourse (due to numbers) at the end of November.

The VCE results this year have been outstanding and a proud testament to our school’s continued commitment to excellence and equity and showcases a great public education system.

Competition was tough this year for the DUX of 2024, with five students achieving ATARs above 99, placing them in the top 1% of the state.

One student, however, has been awarded results unprecedented in BHHS history with five 50s

With an ATAR of 99.90, Cayden Tan is our Dux for 2024.

We are so happy for Cayden - he has also been a kind and supportive classmate to his peers in class as well.

Median Study Score – 32

Median English Study Score – 33!

Median ATAR of 82.3

34% of students achieved ATARs over 90+

We look forward to 2025!
