CURRICULUM FOCUS

We are learning to identify angles in our environment.

VOCABULARY

Right angle: an angle that is exactly 90°

Acute angle: an angle that is less than 90° but more than 0°

Obtuse angle: an angle that is more than 90° but less than 180°

Reflex angle: an angle that is more than 180°

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

  1. Find 5 objects around your house or outside that show different angles (e.g., door corners, book corners, etc.).
  2. Draw a simple picture of each object, focusing on the angles you see.
  3. For each angle, estimate if it is an acute angle (less than 90°), a right angle (90°), or an obtuse angle (greater than 90°).
  4. Label the angle type on your drawing.

Bonus: Can you find an object with a reflex angle (greater than 180°)? Draw it if you do!
