Year 11 Exams

Year 11 VCE Exams will occur from Wed 13 to Wed 20 November. Year 11 Exams will assess students on content from both Units 1 and  2.

The purpose of having exams in Year 11 is to:

  • demonstrate evidence of learning (knowledge and skills) learnt across the units of learning,
  • provide opportunities for students to experience and engage in exam preparation, including a structured exam timetable, and
  • replicate the format and experience for sitting exams in a timed and formal setting, including adhering to exam rules and processes similar to that in Year 12.

Year 11 Exam information, including timetable and expectations has now been published on Teams and on Compass. Students need to make sure that they are reading the relevant documents. Below is some key information from the document:

  • Exams will take place from Wed 13 to Wed 20 November
  • All exams will take place in the Senior Centre (Music Exams will be in J1)
  • All Year 11 VCE students are required to attend Exams, including VM students unless they have organised a structured work placement.
  • Students are required to be in full College or PE uniform.
  • Please arrive 20 minutes before each exam.
  • Students do not have to be at school unless they have an Exam on that day. Any student who is in school during school hours and not in an Exam is expected to be in the Pathway Hub. Students must follow the normal signing in and out procedures at the General Office.
  • Year 10 Early Start students are required to attend Year 11 Exams and must be present in remaining Year 10 classes on the day of their examination. This is an approved school activity.
  • You must be aware of Exam rules and processes. Information can be found here: 2024 Exam Rules and Processes.docx
  • You must be familiar with the authorised materials and equipment for each exam: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/vce-assessment/materials/Pages/index.aspx

Exam Reschedules and Absences

Students who have a clash with a VCAA Examination will have all their Exams rescheduled for that day. Additionally, students who have three Exams in one day will have one Exam rescheduled and students with a VET clash will also have their Exams rescheduled. This will be communicated to students by Ms Fonda via Teams at least a week before Exams. Reschedules will be reflected on Compass.

Other alternative arrangements will not be made for students with regards to Exams unless the student absence is deemed by the College to be the result of extenuating circumstances, illness as supported by medical evidence (i.e., medical certificate), or Approved Leave.

If a student is absent on the day of an Exam, medical evidence is required. Parents are also required to update the absence on Compass. In addition, students are required to Teams message Ms. Fonda (FON) before the exam so the exam can be rescheduled (if possible).

On behalf of the entire Senior School Team, we wish our Year 11 students the best of luck with their exams

Year 11 into 12 Step Up

Thu 21 - Thu 28 November

The purpose of Step up is to help maximize the learning opportunities and delivery of the Unit 3 VCE / VM Curriculum Program. Teachers will have the opportunity to start teaching Unit 3 and provide students with targeted holiday homework. This is to ensure students at the commencement of the following academic year have a solid foundation of required key knowledge and key skills to build upon for the rest of Unit 3.

Starting teaching Unit 3 in the previous year, will mean more learning time can be spent on exam preparation and exam revision the following year, as well as increase time devoted to SACs and SAC preparation. The Step-Up program for Year 11 VCE / VM students (Year 12 students in 2025) is a 7-day program starting on Thu 21 to Thu 28 November.

Year 11 Academic Review Conferences

All Year 11 VCE and VM students are required to attend a 15-minute student-led conference with their Explore teacher on Friday 29 November. The purpose of this conference is for students to critically reflect and review their exam preparation and performance, as well as the overall academic school year. In addition, students will set learning growth goals for Term 1 2025 based on areas of improvement and discussions during the conference. Parents are encouraged to attend these conferences.

These conferences are compulsory for all VCE & VM students, and any student who does not attend may be required to attend the review meeting in week 9.
