Term 4 in the Library

Term 4 in the Library means an increasing number of students coming in to study, waiting for an exam to start, celebrating and debriefing after an exam, and getting those assignments finished. Even during busy lunchtime sessions there is always a quiet room waiting for anyone who needs some time to study or do schoolwork.

Term 4 is also time to make sure that Library loans are up to date. All students receive weekly reminders of their outstanding loans. Many still have books that were taken home last year – please encourage your students to check the books they have on loan via the Library catalogue (use the star dropdown list in Compass) Once signed in, they need to hover over their name in the top right hand corner to see a list of options, and choose Loans. They can now see everything they have on loan and if it is overdue. There will Compass messages soon to those families whose students have Library items more than 3 months overdue.

There are no penalties for returning overdue books. Remember – Library books are a shared commodity and need to be returned so others can enjoy reading them. Thanks for your help

Behind the News Visit

Thursday 21 November

We were really excited to find out that Ms Daniels recently won for Wantirna College a National competition for an exclusive visit by the Behind the News (BtN) production team. BtN is an ABC TV program suitable for school students that explains the issues behind the week’s news in an accessible way. During the incursion Year 7 students will be shown how the program is made, how to dissect an issue, and then present it, then afterwards students will have the opportunity to ask questions of Amelia Moseley the BtN presenter.
