Notice for Senior HSIE Students and their parents

As we approach the halfway mark of Term 1 of the HSC course, please ensure you are setting a goal for this term! What do you want to achieve by the end of the first term of the HSC. Remember your SMART goals from Year 10 and 11, now is the time to set one for your final year of school. Follow the guide below:

Students are expected to be completing and submitting their class work to their teachers on a regular basis, as well as completing weekly study for each of their classes. Encourage the use of the school planner to map out due dates, including class work and assessment drafts. Please encourage students to check CANVAS regularly, as well as their emails.

Please encourage your child to make use of their time at school if they have Study HUB periods or to attend TASC on Thursdays in the Library between 2-3pm, as well as utilising their Thursday B study day to work on their class work. These are all useful and regular time slots to be studying on a regular basis.

HSIE Highlights

Legal Studies

Year 12 Legal Studies students visited NSW Parliament House on Thursday 24th October. They participated in the ‘Legislature and the Law’ education program and observed question time in both the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.

The speaker of both houses welcomed Camden High, with the MPs and Senators waving to us in the public gallery during question time. Students observed democracy in action, with debates ranging from the train driver strike, new laws relating to illegal tobacco, and the need to preserve sections of national forest near Byron Bay for indigenous communities.

Local member for Camden, Sally Quinnell, spent time with the students, outlining her role in parliament, how parliament is structured and responding to questions. We even managed a spot of local sightseeing!
