Learning Success

Secondary Studies Faculty - Learning and Support

Term 4 kicked off with our Year 12 students sitting their HSC examinations. What an amazing accomplishment for these young adults, the culmination of thirteen years of learning and hard work. As a faculty we want to congratulate Year 12 on achieving all that they have.

Along with Year 12 exams, the last six school weeks have seen the remainder of our student cohort sitting examinations and submitting assessment tasks across all their subjects. Our wonderful SLSOs have been supporting our students through their exams and assessments by facilitating small group supervision for eligible students and acting as readers/writers where necessary.

The Teacher Assisted Study Centre – TASC – is running every week this term until week 9 to support our students with their learning. Seniors are especially encouraged to take advantage of this resource, as Term 4 in this calendar year is Term 1 of their HSC courses. A range of teachers across all faculties are rostered to support students in the library each Thursday from 2:00 – 3:00.

In the land of Literacy and Numeracy learning, 8G have been selected to work on an inquiry-based learning activity around sustainability. This was conducted across nine school weeks, with presentations of their projects in week 3. Literacy and Numeracy were key focus areas in their research and preparation of their work.

Year 8 Literacy are undertaking a creative writing portfolio, utilising all skills and techniques they have learnt throughout the year to write their own masterpiece. A scaffolded workbook will be completed in their Literacy lessons to steer their creativity in the right direction and guide their writing.

Wishing all of our students the best of luck in their examinations and assessments.
