From the Deputy Principals
Recently, Camden High School opened its doors to staff from our local partner primary schools for a special High School Immersion Day. This unique event provided primary school teachers and staff with a firsthand experience of what day-to-day high school life is like at Camden High. Furthermore, it built a stronger understanding of high school systems, processes and curriculum and opportunities to support stronger primary to high school transitions for our incoming students and their families.
We were excited to immerse our primary school counter parts in:
- a wide range of learning experiences across several curriculum areas, including Personal Development, Health & Physical Education, Timber, Food Technology, Hospitality, English, Visual Arts, Science, and Geography. The interactive nature allowed primary school staff to interact with our students and ask in-depth questions about individual subjects and get a more genuine feel for what life is like here at Camden High.
- the STAR Program (Skills, Trade and Readiness) showcasing the extensive benefits of a compressed curriculum balanced with Tafe, work experience and transition to work opportunities for students in the Year 10 program.
- MTTC (Macarthur Trade Training Centre) as an opportunity to offer increased subject choice for our senior students accompanied with vocational education opportunities as part of a student’s HSC pattern of study.
- Enrichment Class as a high performance and gifted education class that is aimed to support and foster the learning of our students across the Intellectual, Social- Emotional, Physical and Creative domains.
- the extracurricular activities and clubs that are on offer throughout the year including Ag Club, Band, Vocals, Drama, The Camden Cup Challenge, Cowra Exchange and STEM opportunities.
On the 6th of November, Camden High School Senior Executive had the opportunity to visit our partner primary schools and be provided with the same immersive experience. This cross-setting collaboration was an invaluable experience to see education from a holistic student perspective. We look forward to future collaboration and building stronger transition pathways for students from primary into high school settings.
On Friday 25th October a table of Camden High School staff participated in the Kids of Macarthur School Trivia Challenge and although our table was small we didn't do too badly. It was an absolutely fabulous night with all proceeds raised going towards children's health in our region. Looking forward to participating agin next year.
