In Term 4, our students from 9PASS have been exploring a range of different specialised sports that have been modified to accommodate a variety of ability levels.
Goalball
Goalball is a team sport played indoors by athletes with vision impairment. The object of the game is to roll the ball into the opponent's goal while the opposing players try to block the ball with their bodies. Bells inside the ball help orientate the players by indicating the direction of the oncoming ball.
Wheelchair European Handball
Wheelchair handball is handball played by people with varying physical disabilities that disqualify them from playing an able-bodied sport. These include spina bifida, birth defects, cerebral palsy, paralysis due to accident, amputations (of the legs, or other parts), and many other disabilities.
10 PASS NSW Wheelchair Sports
On Friday week 3, Year 10 participated in an incursion where Hayley from Wheelchair sports NSW presented a small chat on road safety and then students played wheelchair basketball. It was a great experience and students had a ball. Great way to finalise there PASS studies.
