Higher School Certificate Examinations

Well, done to our Year 12 students, who are now halfway through the HSC exam block - two weeks down, two to go!

The atmosphere has been positive, and we encourage students to maintain this energy as they move through the remainder of their exams.

Please ensure you are familiar with the exam schedule, including the date and time for each exam. Students are reminded to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of their exams to settle in and give themselves the best chance to perform at their best.

We wish all students continued success throughout the rest of the exam period!

From the SRC

Don’t be afraid to visit the SRC!

Supernatural horror writer H.P Lovecraft observed, ‘The oldest and strongest kind of emotion is fear, the oldest and strongest kind of fear, is fear of the unknown.’

The importance of finding ways to overcome the things that stop us from living our best life is why this genre has always been so popular. Reading about the challenges and fears others face is a way to safely test our mettle in coping with life’s most difficult moments. Even if we never have to face a zombie apocalypse, entering fictional worlds to spark the imagination and find creative ways to shine a light in the darkness are lessons well learnt. So, don’t be afraid to visit the SRC is the message as we approach the end of October and think about all things spooky.

Classes from Years 7-10 have been encouraged to delve into Horror genre texts in their fortnightly reading lessons and displays in the Senior Library this month further explore these themes. There is a growing collection of new texts available to borrow; from short stories by Stephen King to graphic novel versions of Edgar Allen Poe classic tales, as well as a wave of contemporary horror writers such as Darren Shan and his Zombie series.

And remember, the only thing to fear is fear itself…
