Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,
It has been wonderful to see so many Derinya students succeeding in so many different areas, from academics through to sports and everything in between. Congratulations to our students who competed at the Regional Athletics last week, our Grade 6 Frisbee team who won their tournament and Audrey in Grade 6 who was a part of the State Champion gymnastics team. We've got teams competing at the Spring Dance Carnival this weekend and students participating in the Lego League in the next couple of weeks. There are opportunities for all interests and abilities and we wish them all the best for success in their chosen events.
In the news yesterday, there was talk around public schools leaving their gates open for the public to use as a play space, a recreational space for local families to use. Derinya has always had an 'open-gate' policy, encouraging families to use the playgrounds, the oval, sandpit etc. and we have no intention of changing that. We only ask that families that do use our spaces, continue to respect the grounds and the equipment. If your children are old enough to use the grounds independently, then please remind them of their obligation to care for and respect our school outside of school hours.
You know the year is coming close to an end when we're preparing for our 2025 Preppies for their first visit. We're looking forward to welcoming them on Monday whilst also preparing our current Grade 4s to be their buddies.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
